When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down on your face
And I...
Tears stream down on your face
I promise you that I will learn from mistakes.
Tears stream down on your face
And I...
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Cold Play: Fix You
There is a song, a song that has made a huge difference in
my life and a difference in many of people’s lives. For my assignment I chose
to use the song Fix You by Cold Play. It has powerful words and meaning behind
it all. Now there are many songs that I enjoy more than this one but few hold
the meaning that this one does. I really want to emphasize that this is by no stretch
my favorite song or even a song that I find to have the most meaning behind it,
but this one has the best story behind it.
So you
may ask why choose a song that does not have my greatest favor, or the
strongest meaning? Well this song is played at the camp that I volunteer at. To
get the idea behind this I’ll give the full story, the is a camp for abused and
neglected kids in the foster care system. We play this song on our last night
up at the camp to show the kids that all the hurt that had been inflicted on
them as well as the hurt they inflicted on themselves can and should be healed.
So this song has had an impact on many people’s lives and that is why I choose
this song.
What is
the deeper meaning? Well you can see find more than one meaning behind this song,
but the one I see as it is the healing of God on a hurt life. We show the
meaning behind this song by doing a skit, in order to show the meaning behind
the words. In our skit we show a teen who has been dumped, turns to partying
and see the emptiness behind it, which leads to the literal collapse of their soul.
It is at that point, when they feel as though they can’t take anymore when God
comes into help them. And brings them from that point to become the best person
they can be.
Throughout
the song both the lyrics and the instruments play into the build of a great
climax towards the end of the song. At the beginning of the song you feel a
sort of mellow deeper feeling, as the song moves on it slows down a little
because it want so show the feeling of someone breaking down. And with a little
over a minute left, it picks up dramatically to give that sense of motivation
and regrowth. As for the lyrics if you listen to them they actually have a song
that is written for religious purposes. This brings more meaning to it all
because you know that people are always hurting but you choose to look to God
for the answer.
If I could
summarize this song I would do so as this:
When you are at that point when you feel like nothing is
working anymore
And things all start to fall apart
There is a solution to this and you know what it is
It means you have a choice
Ect.
But in short you have a choice and if you choose God It will
end in a life with less heart Break

Critical Thinker
Critical thinking isn’t just something that you turn on when
you do school work or at your job, it’s a way that people act in everyday life.
To be completely honest I don’t believe there is a person who can be perfectly
defined as a critical thinker, I only think that there are certain parts of
people that can think critically. You see there is not one person who can think
of all aspects of life objectively, at least in my opinion. The reason I say
this is because people become emotionally attached to other people, or animals
or ideas. Although I say this I do believe that there are some people who can think
about things in a critical manner, at least for some or most things. For this
blog I am going to examine my friend Justin who most say is a critical thinker,
and I would agree with them for the most part. So I will show the aspects to
which I see him as a critical thinker.
The first one and by far the point that sticks out the most
is that he can develop and defend reasonable thinking. You see he has more than
just the ability to do this he thrives on doing it. If you ask anyone who know
him you would get an all-around agreement on the fact that he not only like to
be able to join debates but also start them. And when he is able to not only
reasonably defend the side he has chosen but also analyzes the point you make
to make rational points on those as well. It is perhaps one of the strongest
personality traits he has.
Another point that he embodies is easy to see as well, is
that he tries to be as well informed as possible. Before he chooses a side on
hot political topics he researches them. He gets information verified through
different sites on the internet, in different newspapers and also he gets it
from the news on the TV. Usually when I have questions about a big issue, such
as the big SOPA incident that just recently happened, I will go to him to talk
about it. On top of this he one of the more intelligent people I know when it
comes to looking at hot topics as this was and being able to see both the good
and the bad sides. The core to this all is his simple ability to stay informed
about all the big important issues.
The last point that I will bring up about him is that he is
judges the quality of an argument. As I had said earlier in my post, he analyzes
the validity of a statement that has been said and throws it back at you. And when
you are in a debate with him you know he listens because he is acceptable of
reason, even when it is going against the point he is trying to prove. The
thing he does with that reason though is he uses it to prove his point in the
end. He is defiantly close to being a critical thinker, but there is always a
flaw.
